"It was the weekend in November when clocks got turned back. I just got home around 4 P.M. from an event that started at 8 A.M., so I decided to take a nap. By the time I woke up it was completely dark. I realized that I had not woken up to my alarm, but to some noises in my room. Looking up, I saw a man standing in my bedroom doorway, separated from me only by my desk. Since I was all disoriented, I asked very politely who he was, what he was doing here, what was happening. He just replied that my friends let him in and that I should go back to sleep.
I started to lie back down, but through my hazy consciousness, my instinct told me something was wrong. As I sat up to get out of bed, he reached over to my desk, unplugged my laptop, and ran out. That was not good. I was grateful that nothing worse happened, and that I had recently backed up my files to my external hard drive. However, this did not include my lecture notes from two classes in which I had papers due the next week. My wonderful, neat, meticulously formatted notes! I had no choice but to go to my professors with my Police Crime Receipt and beg for extensions. Of course, I ended up getting notes from friends, which was great and everything. But I definitely didn't get as much out of them as the notes I typed myself. I've since convinced myself that's the reason I didn't do as well as I should have on those papers, and not at all because I procrastinated."
