Backup CDs
"Losing All Your Data Everyone who has a computer will probably have this happen to them, and it's unbelievably frustrating when it does. In late 2007 it happened to me - my hard drive, which was about 5 years old, simply failed, and all of my data was lost. I had dozens of stories and scanned illustrations, that I had created, which were stored on that hard drive, and most of them were lost. Some of them I had copied onto backup CDs earlier and so I was able to salvage some of them, but most of the data on the hard drive was lost forever, and it was incredibly annoying.
The stories I'd written were especially painful to lose because I can't just write a story over again several years later. Fortunately, I didn't have anything that was vital to my career, since it was just a home gaming PC and not something I used for work, but this might not be the case for other people. Therefore, you should do as I do now, after learning my lesson, and back up your data onto USB drives so that if it's lost, you can replace it!"
